Weekend Update 9.19.09- The Real World—Silicon Valley Edition. [Digital Daily]

Geekfighting may never become its own UFC event, but following tech news this week seemed, in places, like a view to a big, well-funded cage match. Things got so rowdy that Kara Swisher could hear them all the way across “The Pond.”

Finally! Someone Shot the Creepy Palm Pre Chick! [Palm Pre Chick]

Confession: I haven’t seen September Dawn. I didn’t know about the movie until today. What I do know is that the actress who plays the creepy Palm Pre chick dies at the 3:01 mark of this clip. In creepy fashion.

At an event in San Francisco this morning, Sanjay Jha, Motorola’s co-CEO and CEO of the company’s handset division, uncrated the CLIQ, a device it describes unremarkably as the “first phone with social skills.”

The Palm Pixi has officially arrived, and if you’re an avid reader of Engadget (you’d better be), this device should look a little bit familiar to you. We first broke specs and images of the phone — codenamed Eos and the alternately-spelled “Pixie” — back in April, when we nabbed what appeared to be a leak of a new, Centro-esque phone headed to AT&T. Today, Palm has announced that the Pixi — a tiny, sleek webOS-based handset — will be coming to Sprint this holiday season. The phone will hit shelves sans-WiFi (EV-DO Rev. iPhone 3GS Shot with 9mm and Burned

I have bought all three generations of iPhones on launch day, but I cannot take it any longer. In the end, it was rejection of Google Voice from the App Store that drove me to this point, but that was just the tip of the spear. Whether it is their refusal to let other gadgets such as the Palm Pre interface with iTunes, or their Draconian App Store procedures…I simply cannot support them with a clear conscience, which is why I chose to end the life of my iPhone in this manner instead of …
